Great Barrier Reef

Great Barrier Reef weddings offer many wedding venue options for your destination wedding in Australia.

The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. It is over 2000 km long, and is not actually one reef, but rather it consists of 2900 individual reefs and 900 islands. It offers some of the best diving, snorkeling, and fishing in the world, because of its clear water, and endless marine life. The reef plays host to 1500 species of fish, 400 types of coral, 4000 mollusks, and 215 species of birds. It is also a breeding ground for a number of rare and endangered species, including humpback whales, and six species of turtles. The reef received a lot of attention when the infamous Jacques Cousteau called it one of the four “must-dive” sites on the planet, and has been one of Australia’s major tourist attractions since.
